Pippa Mann diagnosed with back injury following New Hampshire IndyCar crash

Pippa Mann 2011 Rahal Letterman Lanigan IndyCarPippa Mann has been diagnosed with a back fracture following her heavy practice crash during the New Hampshire IndyCar event earlier this month.

The 28-year-old Briton, who was making her debut for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team at the oval - after competing for Conquest Racing at the Indianapolis 500 - was hospitalised following the accident and forced to miss the race as a result.

Mann returned to Indianapolis to enable IndyCar medical staff to carry out additional checks – including an MRI scan – and was diagnosed with an end-plate fracture of the C7 vertabrae by Dr Terry Trammell.

The injury is not expected to prevent Mann from competing at her next scheduled IndyCar event at Kentucky on October 3.
