Rally Finland Super 2000 World Rally Championship leader Ott Tanak says there is more speed to come from his Ford Fiesta.
Tanak leads SWRC from Finland's Juho Hanninen by nine seconds, but more impressive is his seventh overall on the Jyvaskyla-based event. He was sixth quickest overall on the second stage.
"It's been a good start," said the 23-year-old Estonian. "I had some dust on the first stage and I wasn't so confident with things, so I was braking twice in some of the corners. I can go faster than this, but I don't want to go onto the limit. I want to get the car to the finish."
Tanak said a pre-event test had helped him in his preparation for Finland.
"I did about 60 kilometres in Finland, which was very good," he said. "I am a little bit surprised at the place overall."
There had been talk of Tanak's car running development engine parts, but M-Sport scotched those rumours, saying that the Fiestas are all running the same evolution engine.
