Jorge Lorenzo said he put absolutely everything he had into his Italian Grand Prix victory, and that it made up for Yamaha's recent struggles.
The result was the first time the reigning world champion had won in the dry this season, and came after a crash at Silverstone and a tangle with Marco Simoncelli at Assen.
Lorenzo seemed to be falling away from leader Casey Stoner at first, but eventually won a battle with the latter's Honda team-mate Andrea Dovizioso, hunted down Stoner, and grabbed victory.
"It's so special because the last three or four races have been so, so hard for us," said Lorenzo.
"I put everything I have on the track. Now I don't have any type of energy.
"It was so difficult to overtake Andrea and Casey under hard braking, so I tried to overtake them in the downhill [sections] and in the end everything was fine.
"I want to thank Yamaha for all the effort they put into offering me the best bike possible."
The win brings Lorenzo back to within 19 points of Stoner in the championship.
