Moto2 frontrunner Andrea Iannone will test Pramac Racing's MotoGP Ducati at Mugello tomorrow.
The team is also recalling its ex-MotoGP rider Sylvain Guintoli to join Randy de Puniet for the test, in case Loris Capirossi does not recover from his shoulder and rib injuries in time for the German Grand Prix.
Pramac team boss Paolo Campinoti said Iannone was being given the chance to "in order to get used to the MotoGP class," rather than because he was a potential stand-in for Capirossi.
Iannone's Moto2 team Speed Master is among those that has been granted a MotoGP entry for the 2012 season, with the Italian widely tipped to move up to the premier class with the squad.
The 21-year-old Italian was third in last year's Moto2 championship, but has not always managed to turn his rapid pace into results this year and is currently only seventh in the 2011 standings.
