Hayden to try DTM Mercedes

Nicky Hayden

Ducati Moto GP rider Nicky Hayden will try out DTM machinery for the first time at Lausitz this weekend.

The 2006 world champion will perform a series of demonstration runs at the German circuit on Saturday in a Mercedes C-class as part of a tie-in between Ducati and Mercedes' high-performance arm AMG.

Mercedes driver David Coulthard will give Hayden some driving tips before the American takes to the track.

Hayden is not the only two-wheeled ace at Lausitz this weekend; World Superbike race-winner Max Neukirchner, 20-time grand prix winner Ralf Waldmann and Dirk Raudies - the 125cc world champion of 1993 will all compete in the Volkswagen Scirocco-R Cup.

Current Moto2 points leader Stefan Bradl had been due to race a Scirocco as well, but has been laid down with a cold.
