Ferrari driver Felipe Massa "enjoyed his best Friday since the beginning of the season" in Friday practice for the Canadian Grand Prix, telling reporters he was "happy" with the performance his Ferrari delivered.
"It was a good Friday, maybe the best Friday since the beginning of the season," said the Brazilian.
"Maybe other cars are not running like us and waiting to do their real performances on Saturday, so we wait to see how it goes tomorrow but we were quite competitive today, so I'm happy."
Like several other drivers, Massa's plans for the afternoon session were curtailed by the numerous incidents and red flags.
"There were a lot of red flags so I was not able to use my super-soft tyres," he said. "I concentrated on the long runs with fuel. This is a place where there are possibilities to crash, as we saw with some cars, and it's a race where we'll see some accidents and contacts with the wall as we have seen today."
Despite his positivity surrounding the Friday sessions, Massa remained cautious about the abilities of his rivals and wouldn't be drawn on predictions for qualifying.
"It's always difficult to get a clear picture on Friday, maybe they are waiting to put everything in and be quick tomorrow," he warned. "The only thing we can say is that it was a good Friday for us, and now we will wait and see how we compare to Red Bull and McLaren tomorrow."
