Simona de Silvestro will not be able to return to the track at Indianapolis until qualifying at the earliest after the IndyCar medics ruled that she was not fit to drive following her Thursday crash.
The HVM driver suffered second-degree burns on the back of her right hand and superficial burns on her left hand when her car crashed early in yesterday's session - hitting the wall in Turn 3 and becoming airborne, before landing upside down and in flames.
De Silvestro will be re-evaluated tomorrow morning before a decision is taken on whether she can participate in this weekend's grid-deciding sessions.
Indy 500 rules allow the use of a substitute driver in qualifying, but any car changing driver between qualifying and the race must move to the back of the field for the start.
