Turvey replaces Aleshin for GP2 test

Oliver TurveyOliver Turvey will replace Mikhail Aleshin at Carlin in this week's official GP2 test at the Silverstone circuit.

The Russian was set to race with the team during the 2011 season, but has been forced to withdraw from GP2 due to current budgetary issues.

Turvey, who scored one pole position and four podiums in the main series last year, will be joining Carlin alongside Max Chilton at the test.

The team said, however, that it was assessing who will race the second car during the season.

"Unfortunately due to some funding problems Mikhail has had to withdraw from his GP2 programme, although he is working hard to secure alternative funding," said team boss Trevor Carlin.

"In his absence, we have Oliver in the car who we know extremely well from previous seasons. Oliver has a great deal of experience and is the perfect driver to help us progress further with the car. We're still assessing all the options for our second driver for the season."
