Irvine writes off Ferrari
Ex-Ferrari driver Eddie Irvine believes Michael Schumacher Eddie Irvine says Michael Schumacher "must be kidding himself" when he claims Ferrari are on the pace with McLaren
In a column written for 'The Sun' newspaper, Irvine warned his former team mate of the consequences of talking up his chances of a third world championship win this season.
"I keep hearing that Michael Schumacher feels his Ferrari is now a real
match for McLaren - but he must be kidding himself," said Irvine.
"I was really surprised at Ferrari during qualifying in Australia. I
thought they would be a lot faster.
"Never mind what Michael has been saying about still winning even of Mika and David hadn't broken down. That was never on the cards.
"Where would he have overtaken them? Not in the pits because they were all on a one stop strategy.
"The way he has been bragging is a dangerous game to play because it can so easily backfire on you.
And what of Brazil's hopes that local hero Barrichello, who outqualified Schumacher in a slower Stewart-Ford last year and led the race, could outperform the double champion tomorrow?
Irvine has a two word summary: "No chance,
"He'll do a good job that's for sure but I wouldn't hold out any hope of him beating Michael."
