Rigon carries out aero test for Ferrari

Superleague Formula star Davide Rigon had his first taste of a Ferrari Formula 1 car when he conducted aerodynamic testing for the team today.

The Italian is working with Ferrari's simulator programme this year, and had been scheduled to get his first run in the actual car with a test in a 2009 Ferrari last Monday, but this session had to be abandoned due to poor weather at Fiorano.

Instead Rigon, who is best known for taking Beijing Gouan and RSC Anderlecht to Superleague titles in 2008 and 2010 respectively, was used for straightline work in the 2011 machine at Vairano today.

"It was a crucial experience for him, given that the majority of his work on developing the car takes place in the simulator and it was also recognition for the way his career is going," said a Ferrari statement.

Race drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will carry out filming runs at Catalunya tomorrow prior to joining the final official test of the winter at the track on Wednesday.
