Andersson rolls but recovers

P-G Andersson, Ford, Sweden 2011Overnight leader P-G Andersson lost a minute with a roll on Rally Sweden's first full-length stage this morning - but began fighting back with joint fastest time on SS3.

The Ford Fiesta RS WRC-driving Swede led the event after last night's Karlstad superspecial, but rolled on this morning's opener. He was able to continue and on the next stage, he was joint fastest with Mads Ostberg - who has moved to the head of the field in another Ford.

Andersson arrived at the finish of the first stage of the day with his head in his hands. The double Junior World Rally champion was distraught.

"I'm so disappointed," he said. "I clipped a snowbank and thought I would be okay, but then it turned over."

Andersson is just over a minute off Ostberg's lead, with the Norwegian enjoying the heavy snow in his Fiesta.

"I'm happy with everything right now, but I have to remain cautious," said Ostberg.

Seven-time world champion Sebastien Loeb made a cautious start, but running first on the road in the snowy conditions did not help the Frenchman.

"I will lose a lot of time today," Loeb said. "At one point, we completely stopped, it's very difficult - there is so much snow!"

Mikko Hirvonen is second with Petter Solberg the lead Citroen DS3 WRC in third place.
