Pizzonia blitzes field yet again
Antonio Pizzonia continued to dominate pre-season testing for the British Formula Three championship at Donington Park this week
The Brazilian didn't even use new tyres on his Manor Motorsport Dallara, but was still 0.6s quicker than his nearest rival.
'We didn't use new tyres all day,' he confirmed. 'So I still think we can go quicker. This is the first time this year I have driven the car in the dry so we have learned a lot.'
F3 returnee Ben Collins was second quickest for Carlin Motorsport, ahead of RC Motorsport's Nicolas Kiesa, who suffered a broken rear wing during the morning session.
'Today has been great,' Collins enthused. 'I am quicker than Antonio in some places and I'm making mistakes in others so I know that I can go quicker.'
The established frontrunners had a more frustrating time. Only in the final minutes of the session did Narain Karthikeyan appear in fourth for Stewart Racing, narrowly ahead of Promatecme pairing Andy Priaulx and Matt Davies.
The latter had a frustrating day, damaging the floor of his Dallara-Renault in a morning spin and then losing time with a small engine fire later.
Pizzonia's team-mate Juan Manuel Lopez also crashed, while Scholarship Class runner Mark Mayall was delayed by an engine failure.
Gary Paffett was again the fastest Scholarship Class entrant, beating Christian Columbo and Ryan Walker.
