Australian GP dispute resolved

2010 Australian GPAustralia's motorsport governing body CAMS says it has reached an agreement to end its dispute with the Melbourne race organisers, ensuring that next year's Australian Grand Prix can go ahead.

The race had been in doubt after a disagreement over fees between CAMS - which helps organise the event - and the Australian GP promoters, with the latter keen for CAMS to lower its charges.

But a statement from CAMS said a satisfactory financial deal had now been achieved.

CAMS president Andrew Papadopoulos said: "CAMS is delighted to have reached this agreement and looks forward to continuing its role in one of the world's best Formula 1 events and helping to make it an even greater success.

"Our officials are renowned internationally and trained to the highest standards. They will make an irreplaceable contribution to the running of the Australian GP."

The 2011 Australian GP takes place on 27 March, and is round two of next year's world championship.
