Weather delays Phillip Island practice

The opening practice sessions for the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island have been postponed due to severe weather conditions.

Strong winds and heavy rain overnight caused flooding in some parts of the track, leading to sand being washed onto the racing surface.

Efforts to get the track ready to use are now underway. The first session - practice for the 125cc class - was due to commence at 12.40pm local time, but organisers have promised an update on conditions and the revised schedule at 2.30pm.
