Renault Sport Technologies has confirmed that BVM Target will enter the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series, as revealed by AUTOSPORT in September.
The team will be run in partnership with the Italian Motorsport Federation, the CSAI, which aims to create a pathway for Italian talent into Formula 1.
BVM Racing founder Giuseppe Mazzotti, Target Racing founder Roberto Venieri and Giovanni Minardi (driver manager and son of former F1 team boss Giancarlo Minardi) will be at the helm of the new project.
BVM Target is set to join the series next week at the post-Barcelona collective tests on October 12 and 13. Ferrari Academy drivers Mirko Bortolotti, who competed in the inaugural GP3 season this year, and Pons Racing Formula Renault 3.5 racer Daniel Zampieri will take the wheel.
Two new cars have been assembled at the Alpine plant in Dieppe. BVM Target's entry into the championship is set to bring the grid to a capacity 13 teams and 26 cars.
