Bautista injuries less serious than feared

Alvaro BautistaAlvaro Bautista may yet be fit to race in the Czech Grand Prix after x-rays confirmed he had escaped serious injury in his practice crash.

Suzuki's Spanish rookie was taken to hospital with suspected back injuries following the accident at Turn 3 earlier today, and the initial indication was that he had definitely been ruled out of the rest of the event.

But following checks in hospital he was discovered to have avoided fracturing his vertebrae as had been feared.

Bautista will now undergo a final check on Sunday morning at the circuit before a decision is taken on whether he will be able to contest the grand prix.
