Jenson delays post-race celebrations

Jenson Button has put the champagne on ice following his first point scored in Formula 1 - in case it is withdrawn next week

David Coulthard was stripped of second place following the Brazilian Grand Prix after his McLaren's front wing was deemed illegal.

WilliamsF1 driver Button finished seventh, but was promoted to sixth following Coulthard's disqualification.

However, Button is unlikely to celebrate until after McLaren's appeal has been heard.

A spokesman for the WilliamsF1 team, told The Express: "Whilst it is great news that Jenson has become the youngest driver in history to score a Formula One point, it is still only provisional.

"The point may yet be taken back when an appeal is heard and therefore it would be premature to start celebrating something we don't yet officially have.

"If of course the decision is upheld then it will be great news for Jenson and for the Williams team, but we can't really talk about it until we know the outcome of the appeal."
