Kristensen forgives Priaulx over crash

Eight times Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen says he has forgiven BMW's Andy Priaulx for the misunderstanding in the fifth hour of the race that cost him a chance of victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Priaulx, limping back to the pits with a puncture, moved off the racing line to allow Kristensen through the inside at the Porsche Curves, but the Audi was already committed to the outside line and ran off the circuit, into the gravel.

Afterwards Audi motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich marched down the pitlane to the BMW garage and angrily confronted Schnitzer team boss Charly Lamm about the incident, which cost the #7 Audi three laps.

"At the time it was very frustrating," said Kristensen, "but when you look at the whole picture it is not so bad. We have finished on the podium. It's part of the way things work at this race.

"The driver of the BMW [Priaulx] told me that this is his first time here. It's not fair for him to be criticised because he is a very good driver. Everyone knows who he is and what he has achieved.

"I have the deepest respect for him and I think that it is time for everyone to forgive and move on. We have spoken to each other about what happened and it is behind us now."
