GT1 leader damaged in crash

The class-leading GT1 Ford shared by Thomas Mutsch, Romain Grosjean and Jonathan Hirschi has been badly damaged after contact with an LMP1 car in the 10th hour of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

"A prototype pushed me wide at the entrance to the Ford chicane," Mutsch told AUTOSPORT. "I went off the track and then as I came back onto it, the #24 car hit me from behind."

Mutsch's Ford GT suffered heavy rear end damage. The Matech team is having to replace the entire rear sub-assembly as well as the bodywork.

The #24 car, with Jean-Francois Yvon at the wheel, was also badly damaged in the accident.
