Risi Competizione's Pierre Kaffer was disappointed at the manner of his Ferrari F430's exit from the battle for the GT2 class.
The #82 car started from the back of the grid but fought its way through to duel with the #63 Corvette for several hours before dropping back with gear selection problems.
"The car was brilliant to drive," Kaffer told AUTOSPORT. "All three drivers were able to run at the same pace.
"I really enjoyed racing Emmanuel Collard and Oliver Gavin [in the #64 Corvette]. It was very close and very exciting.
"Then Gianmaria started to have trouble with the gear selection. It's an intermittent problem and we don't understand what's causing it. He went out again but then had to come back in.
"It's a real shame because it was such a spectacular battle. I've never seen GT2 on the TV for so long at Le Mans."
