Bird penalised for cutting chicane

Sam Bird, ART, Monte Carlo 2010ART Grand Prix's Sam Bird has been penalised for cutting the chicane in yesterday's GP2 feature race in Monaco.

The Briton, who dropped from sixth to 15th in the race due to a problem during his pitstop, had 25 seconds added to his time, meaning that he will now start today's sprint race from 18th on the grid.

Drivers are permitted one 'free' trip across the chicane during a race, but risk being penalised if they shortcut the corner repeatedly.
