Ricciardo takes second pole at Aragon
Tech 1 Racing's Daniel Ricciardo has clinched his second consecutive pole position at Motorland Aragon's season-opening Formula Renault 3.5 round this morning
In wet conditions, the Australian's time of 1m58.709s edged out Fortec driver Sten Pentus by 0.220 seconds. A place on the front row remains Estonian Pentus's highest Formula Renault 3.5 career starting position.
Renault Formula 1 reserve driver Jan Charouz held provisional pole in the closing minutes, before being bumped down to an eventual third. Race one runner-up Daniel Zampieri (Pons) will share the second row for this afternoon's race with the P1 Motorsport man.
In team formation, the second Pons Racing machine of Federico Leo will start fifth, ahead of an impressive showing by former Formula Master squad ISR's pairing. In the Czech team's maiden Formula Renault 3.5 meeting, Esteban Guerrieri claimed sixth spot, leading Filip Salaquarda.
Race one winner Mikhail Aleshin could only manage eighth on this occasion, while yesterday's fourth place finisher Jon Lancaster will start in 23rd.
