Former Formula 3 Euro Series driver Andrea Caldarelli is to move to the Italian F3 Championship with Prema this year.
Caldarelli, a former member of Toyota's young driver programme, is returning to Prema after previously driving for the team's Formula Renault arm.
The 20-year-old Italian started out in the F3 Euro Series midfield last year with SG Formula before making a late-season breakthrough that included a front row qualifying position and podium finish in the first Catalunya race.
"He has grown a stunning international experience, battling with drivers like [Valtteri] Bottas, [Daniel] Ricciardo, [and Roberto] Mehri in 2008, and proving to have some outstanding talent," said Prema boss Angelo Rosin.
"Last season, after some initial troubles, he made his way to the top of the Euro Series charts, taking a podium finish and ending the final two races in the points zone."
Caldarelli believes Italian F3 is the best way to regain career momentum after the end of the Toyota young driver system.
"When the Toyota Driver Programme shut its doors, I really didn't know how to make my career progress," he said. "Then, when it all got colder, I thought that the Italian F3 Championship would have been an ideal choice, also thanks to the great job made by [organiser] CSAI.
"They have numbers and high quality. When I started to look around, Prema stood out as the best possible destination."
