Rossi's qualifying times disallowed

Alexander Rossi, Meritus, Abu Dhabi GP2 qualifying 2010Alexander Rossi has been moved to the back of the grid for the first GP2 Asia race in Abu Dhabi tomorrow after a front wing infringement was found in post-qualifying checks.

The American had qualified his Meritus car in fifth place prior to the stewards' decision.

"During a pitstop, a mechanic adjusted the front wing hole setting on one side to 17 and on the other side to hole 18 which is not allowed - a simple human error," said a statement from the team.

Rossi's demotion means that both Meritus cars will start at the tail of the field, as his team-mate Luca Filippi had only been 20th in qualifying following a gearbox problem and was then given a five place penalty when he was judged to have caused a collision with iSport's Oliver Turvey in practice.

"I thought I had a problem with engine losing power," said Filippi, who had been quickest in free practice.

"My mechanics stripped the car and realised we have had a problem with the new gear purchased at the last event. Usually this component has an expected life of 2000 kilometres and we have only driven 400 kilometres and all the teeth were stripped."
