Former Champ Car and IndyCar race-winner Bryan Herta is hoping to enter a car in next year's Indianapolis 500.
The American formed Bryan Herta Autosport to compete in Indy Lights this season, and having initially worked in partnership with Vision Racing, the team is now moving into its own premises, using the former Fernandez Racing facility in Indianapolis.
As part of this expansion, Herta and team co-owner Steve Newey are keen to get into the Indy 500 field. BHA initially submitted an Indy entry this year, but was unable to put a programme together.
"Moving to our own facility is the next logical step in building the foundation for our expansion plans," said Newey. "We are looking forward to the 2010 season as we have a very competitive programme in place.
"In addition to competing in Firestone Indy Lights, we are pursuing the opportunity to enter a car in the Indianapolis 500."
BHA's main driver Daniel Herrington took a race win and seventh place in the Indy Lights standing this season.
