Radstrom poised for leg two attack

Marcus Gronholm has maintained his lead in the

Swedish Rally but is expected to come under a more determined attackfrom second-placed Thomas Radstrom tomorrow.

Radstrom, as a privateer driver, has started today behind the FIA
registered crews and has suffered from damaged roads as a result.

'There was no grip at all in some of the braking areas,' he explained. Tomorrow
however he will restart in second place and will be able to mount a major
challenge to lead his home event.

A damaged anti-roll bar cost Richard Burns some time over the final two
stages today and let Colin McRae slip past into fourth place behind World
Champion Tommi Makinen.

McRae has been gaining speed with every stage but
came close to crashing out of the event half way through today's action,
the Focus bouncing from bank to bank at high speed.

Teething problems have hampered the debut of the Hyundai Accent WRC but
both Kenneth Eriksson and Alister McRae are sitting in the top 20 tonight,
Eriksson having clawed his way back from 40th after a turbo pipe broke on
the first stage.

Ice and gravel have been coating today's stages but the forecast for
tomorrow hints at snow which might make all the difference on this not so
wintry event.
