Skoda plans first ever Safari run
Skoda's world championship rally team is planning to contest its first ever Safari Rally
The Czech team's Octavia Rally Car is due to be tested in a week-long session in Kenya in preparation for the African event, which runs from February 24-27.
German Armin Schwarz will test the car for four days, with Luis Climent taking over for the final three days.
Schwarz said: "We will try and develop a good base car.
"It depends how well we find the speed. The risk is just this two per cent overspeeding, because then you knock the car in bits and pieces.
"I will try to prepare myself well and take many parts with me in the car. It is just a rally to finish and not to look at any results."
Although the team is new to one of the world championship's most gruelling events, both drivers know what to expect.
Climent has previously won the Group N production category, while Schwarz led for a while on his last visit with Ford.
