The Renault team will race a car with nearly no sponsorship already in today's practice for the Singapore Grand Prix, after removing all the ING and Mutua Madrilena decals overnight.
Both banking giant ING, title sponsor of the team, and Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrilena announced on Thursday the termination of their contacts with immediate effect as a result of the race-fixing scandal.
The Dutch-based financial group was already going to leave Renault at the end of the season, but decided to pull out four races early, saying in a statement that it was "deeply disappointed at this turn of events, especially in the context of an otherwise successful sponsorship."
Renault has wasted no time after the two announcements and the cars, garage and motorhome had already lost the ING and Mutua Madrilena decals ahead of first practice in Singapore.
Mutua Madrilena said it will continue to sponsor Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, while ING's commitment to trackside advertising would remain until the end of the year.
