Pescarolo quickest in second practice

Pescarolo appears to have the legs over Aston Martin at the conclusion of the practice day for the AUTOSPORT 1000km at Silverstone

Jean-Christophe Boullion set the best time again in the second session this evening for the French constructor, nearly two seconds faster than the title rival Aston Martin.

His best time this evening was half a second slower than the benchmark from earlier in the day, and was just three tenths quicker than the Kolles-run Audi R10 of Christijan Albers and Christian Bakkerud.

Danny Watts set the third quickest time in the Strakka Racing Ginetta Zytek, ahead of the leading LMP2 class entry of Olivier Pla and Miguel Amaral, which was more than two seconds faster than its nearest class rival - the RML Lola-Mazda of Tommy Erdos and Mike Newton in 12th place.

Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre were fifth quickest in the sole Oreca, with the Speedy Racing Lola-Aston Martin of Andrea Belicchi, Marcel Fassler and Nicolas Prost completing the top six.

The fastest of the works Aston Martins was the #008 car of Stuart Hall, Miguel Ramos and Chris Buncombe in seventh place.

Championship leaders Tomas Enge, Stefan Mucke and Jan Charouz were only eighth fastest in the #007 car, with the #009 entry of Darren Turner and Harold Primat ninth.

The Team LNT Ginetta-Zytek of Nigel Mansell, Greg Mansell and Lawrence Tomlinson rounded out the top 10.

The Larbre Saleen was again top of the GT1 class, with Laurent Groppi, Roland Berville and Sebastien Dumez four tenths of second faster than the Gigawave Aston Martin Vantage of Ryan Sharp and Peter Kox.

Richard Lietz, Marc Lieb and Horst Felbermayr Sr set the best time in GT2 in their Felbermayr Porsche, just a couple of tenths quicker than the lead Ferrari - the Team Modena car of Antonio Garcia, Jaime Melo and Leo Mansell.

Raymond Narac put the IMSA Porsche third in class, ahead of Jonathan Cocker's best lap in the Drayson Racing Aston Martin and the JMW Ferrari of Gianmaria Bruni and Rob Bell.
