Red Bull Racing has confirmed Sebastian Vettel will be forced to use a different engine in qualifying for the European Grand Prix after a problem in final practice.
The German driver managed just six laps this morning after a massive failure forced him to stop on track. The incident also caused the session to be red-flagged for over 20 minutes while marshals cleaned the oil left on track.
Red Bull confirmed Vettel had suffered an engine problem that would force the team to use a different one for the rest of the weekend.
Drivers are allowed to use eight engines during the season before they are penalised for using more units.
Vettel was believed to be using his sixth engine of the season at Valencia.
