Turkington takes Oulton race one win
Colin Turkington took victory in the first British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Oulton Park
Starting from third on the grid, the WSR driver took full advantage of his BMW's traction off the line to launch ahead of the RML Chevrolets of Jason Plato and Mat Jackson into the first corner.
He was never headed after that and was able to take a commanding victory by 3.7 seconds at the chequered flag.
Plato, who started from pole position, and Jackson ran second and third for most of the race, the pair gradually dropping back from Turkington as the event wore on.
While Plato finished second, Jackson was dealt a cruel hand as he suffered a left-front puncture entering the fourth-gear Druids right-hander on the penultimate lap, forcing him to pit for a new tyre and dropping him to 19th place.
His problem allowed Jonathan Adam to inherit the final podium spot for the Motorbase BMW squad.
Fabrizio Giovanardi was Vauxhall's best finisher in fifth, the defending champion being hounded by Stephen Jelley's WSR BMW throughout the second half of the race. The pair finished just a tenth of a second apart.
Adam Jones had a quiet race to finish sixth in his Clyde Valley Racing SEAT, one place ahead of Matt Neal, whose championship lead now stands at just one point over Turkington.
Behind Team Dynamics Honda driver James Thompson, Rob Collard and Andrew Jordan completed the top 10 for Motorbase and Vauxhall. The pair made contact at Cascades on lap 12, forcing Jordan onto the grass. He finished just ahead of RML debutant James Nash.
