Vitaphone #1 wins Adria FIA GT race

Reigning FIA GT champions Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini got their title defence on track with a comfortable victory in round two of the championship in Italy

The Vitaphone Maserati duo pulled away from the field in the Adria evening race to win by 10 seconds from the PK Corvette of Anthony Kumpen and Mike Hezemans.

Vitaphone's second car, shared by Alex Muller and Miguel Ramos, recovered from a drivethrough penalty to complete the podium. The Alphand and SRT Corvettes took fourth and fifth places, a lap down.

Silverstone winners Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp had a disastrous day. Their K plus K Saleen was disqualified from pole position after failing scrutineering due to an aerodynamic infringement, and then retired on the opening lap of the race thanks to a broken driveshaft.

Prospeed Porsche won GT2, with Emmanuel Collard and Richard Westbrook coming through to beat AF Corse Ferrari's Toni Vilander and Gianmaria Bruni despite spending the middle of the race in an enormous battle with the second AF Corse car of Alvaro Barba and Niki Cadei.
