Eurosport promises more live stages
Eurosport Events intends to run live coverage from every round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge within two years
The station screened seven live stages from the Monte Carlo Rally, which finished in Monaco in the early hours of this morning, and now wants to do even more in the coming seasons. Eurosport's coverage of the opening IRC round of the season was well received - particularly the four Friday night stages it ran live.
Geraldine Filiol, Eurosport Events' managing director, said the success of Monte Carlo has confirmed the decision and investment required for more live coverage.
"We want every round to be running this kind of live footage in two years' time," Filiol told autosport.com. "It's been an incredible rally and we are all delighted with the way it has gone.
"This was a major technical challenge for us, as big as anything we have done before, but it worked perfectly. The team - in partnership with the Automobile Club de Monaco - have done a fantastic job.
"We will run three more live events this year, more next year and everywhere the following season."
