BMW continue F1.09 test at Valencia

Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber, Valencia testing January 2009Robert Kubica got the BMW Sauber F1.09's testing programme underway in earnest at Valencia today.

After Tuesday's launch and shakedown, the Pole covered a further 99 laps on a dry track. No times were released by the team, who have sole use of the Spanish circuit this week.

"Although it was quite windy in the afternoon, the conditions were better than yesterday because the track is building up grip with every lap I drive," said Kubica.

"The progress we made during the day shows that we are moving in the right direction with the development of the F1.09."

Although Kubica stopped on track during the morning, the team said this was because he had deliberately run out of fuel as part of their planned programme.

Kubica will remain in the car tomorrow, before teammate Nick Heidfeld takes over on Friday.
