Solberg wants to return for Norway

Petter SolbergPetter Solberg says he is determined to secure a new drive in time for his home event in Norway on 13-15 February.

The Rally Norway organisers have extended the closing date for entries until 13 January, giving Solberg an extra week to find a seat.

The 2003 World Rally champion welcomed the additional time, but said nothing had yet been secured. He has already resigned himself to missing the Rally Ireland at the end of January.

"I am very happy for the new date, but there is still a lot of work to do before we are there," Solberg wrote on his personal website.

Solberg was left on the sidelines when Subaru withdrew from the WRC in December. His former teammate Chris Atkinson will join Citroen's semi-works junior team for the season-opener in Ireland at least, but the Australian's plans beyond round one are not yet confirmed.

There will definitely be one Solberg in their home event as Petter's elder brother Henning has renewed his deal to drive for one of Ford's satellite squads for another year. He is expected to alternate between the Stobart and Munchi's banners throughout the season again.
