Riccardo Patrese says he would like to race in the relaunched Grand Prix Masters series, which is planned for later this year.
The six-time grand prix winner raced in all three Masters events in 2005 and 2006, and finished third in the inaugural round at Kyalami, and told Autosport that he would like to return to the series if its relaunch is successful.
"I've had a letter from the organisers saying they plan to start again and I'm very happy to race again," said the 54-year-old Italian, who will lose his record as the most experienced driver in Formula One history when Rubens Barrichello makes his 257th start in Turkey on Sunday.
"The cars are fantastic, powerful, and great to drive - just like the F1 cars I used to race. I really enjoyed the three Masters races I did."
