Perera confirmed at Conquest

Franck Perera has signed with Conquest Racing for the coming Champ Car season after topping the first test of the year at Sebring on Monday.

The Frenchman, who finished runner-up in Champ Car Atlantic last season, had been hoping to inherit the two million dollar prize fund that Atlantic champion Raphael Matos declined by switching to the Indy Pro Series, but is thrilled to have confirmed a deal without the backing.

He said: "This is a great opportunity for me and I would like to thank Conquest for believing in my ability.

"We had our eye on part of the $2 million but I'm thrilled we were able to reach a deal even without it. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel in the upcoming test at Laguna Seca."

Conquest boss Eric Bachelart added: "I think Franck will surprise many people this year. He was the best driver in Atlantics last season and is a great addition to our team."

The team hope to announce a second driver in the next few weeks.
