Entire Qatar meeting to run at night

All of the on-track action at next year's Qatar Grand Prix is set to take place at night, autosport.com has learned.

The free practice sessions, qualifying, and the races for all three MotoGP classes will be run in the evening, with the earliest sessions likely to take place at 6pm each day.

While the decision has not been 100 per cent confirmed yet, autosport.com understands that it will happen, with each day's on-track activity finishing around 1am.

The decision to run the event at night was confirmed following a test at the circuit on Monday night, where five MotoGP riders were full of praise for the floodlights used around the circuit.

"There was no real difference (to daytime)," said James Toseland. "It's so well-lit that we could even use dark visors out there."
