Checa in hospital, misses practice

Carlos Checa did not ride in this morning's free practice 3 due to feeling ill throughout yesterday, causing him to be taken to hospital for a scan.

Doctors in Valencia kept the Spaniard in overnight for a further scan at 9am this morning.

It is understood that problems were found in this morning's scan leaving Checa unable to take part on track.

Qualifying starts at 13.50 local time for tomorrow's race, potentially Checa's last in the premier class after debuting in 1995 in the Fortuna Honda Pons NSR500.

Checa had his spleen removed after a massive accident at Donington in 1998 when he crashed in practice.
