Spyker test B-spec parts at Silverstone

Spyker are on course to introduce their B-spec car at the Turkish Grand Prix next month, after completing a successful test day at Silverstone.

The team, running alone at their home track with Giedo van der Garde at the wheel, ran for the first time the new rear-end and gearbox. These components will be included in the B-spec debut at Istanbul.

Var der Garde completed a total of 200km - 151 laps around the short Stowe circuit configuration, but the teams did not release any laptimes.

Dominic Harlow, chief race and test engineer for Spyker, commented: "Today's test saw the introduction of a new rear end package as part of the team's development programme for this year's car.

"The new systems ran faultlessly through the day, and a good deal of information was collected to allow us to move on to the next stage of our plan for improving the performance of the F8-VII."

Van der Garde added: "We didn't have any problems at all - apart from the weather! It's difficult to get a feel for the car on such a short track, but the fact it ran reliably from the start is a big plus point."
