BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica has been airlifted by helicopter to hospital for further checks.
The Polish driver crashed heavily during the Canadian Grand Prix and was taken to the circuit's medical centre.
His manager Daniele Morelli said the driver was conscious and talking and was optimistic Kubica has minimal injuries.
"I talked to him and he's conscious," Morelli told ITV. "My impression is that he's fine; I have a positive feeling.
"He's now being moved to hospital for further checks, but he talked to me almost normally, so that's a good sign."
Kubica was taken to the Sacre-Coeur hospital in Montreal.
