Michelin promise new tyre for Rossi

Michelin have vowed to take new specification tyres for Valentino Rossi to next week's Chinese Grand Prix in a bid to ensure he has no repeat of the problems he suffered in Istanbul.

Rossi could manage no better than 10th at the Turkish Grand Prix after suffering major tyre problems due to a rear vibration during the race.

That drama resulted in the Fiat Yamaha rider testing harder construction rear tyres during Monday's post-race test at Istanbul Park - and it is now likely that the different rubber will be taken to Shanghai.

Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin's director of motorcycle racing, said: "We tested harder construction tyres based on Valentino's precise comments after the race at Istanbul.

"The new tyres he tested gave him more confidence and more stability. Based on these results Michelin is focusing all its efforts on taking new spec tyres that fit Valentino's requirements to China, adapted to the demanding Shanghai circuit."
