Vettel to replace Kubica on Friday

Polish driver Robert Kubica will sit out tomorrow morning's Friday practice session for the Australian Grand Prix, his BMW Sauber team have decided.

Kubica will be replaced by third driver Sebastian Vettel, as the German squad hope to benefit from running the young racer ahead of each Grand Prix.

Vettel will run alongside German Nick Heidfeld, with Kubica expected to take to the track in the second practice session.

BMW are one of the few teams who will run a third driver on Fridays.

The Spyker team, who were initially expected to run a third man this weekend, will only run racing drivers Adrian Sutil and Christijan Albers.

Williams will be running Kazuki Nakajima tomorrow, the Japanese replacing Alex Wurz in the morning and Nico Rosberg in the afternoon.
