Rossi unconcerned about Honda times

Valentino Rossi is far from worried about Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa topping the times on the final day at Qatar.

Pedrosa's best effort on the last day at Losail ended Yamaha's domination of pre-season testing, and suggested that the battle at the front may be closer than earlier anticipated.

But Rossi has insisted that he never believed Honda were out of the picture with their new bike - and thinks that Pedrosa's effort will ensure his team do not relax in their efforts to improve the M1.

"I didn't agree with whoever said the Honda RC212V was struggling, because Pedrosa was already very competitive in Malaysia and Australia," Rossi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"These tests have showed us that today we can fight to win against Pedrosa, (Colin) Edwards, and the Ducatis.

"Dani did a great lap on qualifying tyres and went very quick in the simulation, while towards the end I had problems at the rear.

"We need to also improve the stability of the bike under braking, but overall the M1 is good: it's agile and it has good acceleration. It only lacks a bit of speed."

And Rossi believes that testing form may not provide the true picture of where teams stand come the intensity of a race weekend.

"Testing is different from racing, both in the riders' motivation and in the amount of time you spend on track," he added.

"We'll have to see what happens with just four hours of sessions and with the pressure of the Grand Prix. But it's good others ended up in front of us, so we don't relax."
