Carlin and DPR split

Carlin Motorsport will not be on the GP2 grid this year due to their merger with DPR falling through.

The two British teams had announced that they would join forces for a GP2 attack this season, but DPR confirmed on Wednesday that they would be working on their own as they have for the past two years.

A statement from the team said: "DPR will be taking up its place on the 2007 GP2 grid without the support of Carlin Motorsport after the planned merger of the two teams fell through."

After the merger was announced in November the team tested under the 'Carlin DPR' banner throughout December.

The team were set to relocate to Carlin's new base in Surrey which was the former Brabham F1 factory, but DPR will now continue from its own base in Surrey
