Lola reveal new car plans
Racing car constructor Lola have announced plans for a new sportscar that will compete in the American Le Mans Series this year
After agreeing a partnership with Mazdaspeed and B-K Motorsports, the new B07/40 is expected to race for the first time at the Sebring 12 Hours in March. The car will be powered by a new MZR-R prototype engine.
Driver Ben Devlin, who will team up with American Jamie Bach, was delighted at being involved in the project.
"It is a great opportunity for a young lad like myself to be involved in a project like this," said Devlin on stage at the Autosport International Show. "To be involved in LMP2, which is very, very strong, is a fantastic opportunity for myself."
Robert Davis, the man who is in charge of Mazda's North American racing operations, said: "Mazda thrives on innovation, and the America Le Mans Series supplies a great challenge to our engineers and teams.
"Over the past two years we have enjoyed a number of successes in the P2 class and are looking forward to the increased competition in 2007."
