Penske wants to return to Le Mans

Team boss Roger Penske has said that he would 'love' to go back to the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time since the 1970s.
The team took the LMP2 class title in the American Le Mans Series this year with Porsche, but didn't compete in the 24-hour classic this year.
"I'd love to go back to Le Mans, but it's a huge expense," said Penske. "It's a decision Porsche has to make."
The Porsche RS Spyder took an overall victory against the restricted Audi R8 earlier in the year, and Penske would like to have a chance to battle the LMP1 cars in equal machinery.
"I always wish we were racing in LMP1, but this keeps us on our toes," he said. "I don't think we'd be ready to go to Le Mans until we could challenge for the leadership in LMP1."
However, the team boss was quick to deny any plans to graduate to the top class with Porsche in the near future.
"Next year our plan is to do LMP2 again, so any LMP1 decision would be for 2008," he said. "I don't see it on the cards right now."
