Ambrose steps up to Busch for '07

Former V8 Supercar champion Marcos Ambrose will step up to the NASCAR Busch Series next year after just one year of racing in America

The Australian has been racing in the Craftsman Truck Series this year, where his best results have been two podium finishes and a pole position.

"It's a huge change, and definitely a step up in performance," said Ambrose. "The schedule is much more hectic and rewarding, the workload is higher and the prestige is much greater."

Ambrose will drive a Ford Fusion for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing in the Busch Series, where he is looking forward to coming up against several of the Nextel Cup regulars.

"Running in Busch is a huge opportunity because you have so many Nextel Cup drivers coming in to the category from week to week," he said. "Even to run in the top 20 will be a big effort."

Ambrose didn't rule out attempting to make his Nextel Cup debut next year as well, but added that for the moment he was only concerned with his move into the second-tier series for 2007.
