Pizzonia: Rosberg hasn't been quick
Antonio Pizzonia was not surprised by Williams's decision to sign Nico Rosberg for next season, but the Brazilian claimed he was 'stunned' by Rosberg's lack of pace in any of his tests for Williams
Rosberg tested for Williams on eight occasions in the past six months, while at the same time battling for the inaugural GP2 title.
During two days of testing at Monza, in August, the German was about half a second slower than Heidfeld and Webber. At Silverstone, in mid-September, Rosberg was on the pace with Pizzonia - the German's fastest lap just a fraction of a second faster than Pizzonia's.
Yet Pizzonia admitted he was taken by surprise at Rosberg's lack of pace, although he admitted he anticipated the young German's signing.
"I knew even before I raced this year that the seat for next year was moving towards him," Pizzonia said at Cartagena, Columbia, where he is participating in Juan Pablo Montoya's karting event.
"Nico has great talent and has done a very good job in GP2, but the only thing that stuns me is that he hasn't been quick in any of the test he has done for the team."
