Hughes to quit MG squad

Warren Hughes says he will have to drop out of the MG Touring Car team for this season. A loss of factory support for MG means that Hughes continuing is no longer viable.
MG is likely to want a pay driver for 2004, which may mean that Anthony Reid would also have to step down. Both Reid and Hughes have both raced for MG at the team's Le Mans effort, which ended after 2002.
"MG cannot support their motorsport programmes to the same degree as before, and I have to look elsewhere," said Hughes. "British touring cars are looking pretty bleak at the moment; there are no openings.
"There is a danger of it becoming a championship for drivers with money. It will lose credibility if the situation doesn't improve and [more] manufacturers support the series."
